The Seaglide is a handheld deployable vehicle which increases the user's top speed when held. It can be crafted by using the Fabricator. The Seaglide occupies six slots in the player's inventory. It has a top speed of 11 m/s (24.6 mph, 39.6 km/h, 21.4 knots).

The Seaglide consumes energy when used, and as with all other vehicles, it's rendered unusable once its energy reserve is depleted. The empty Battery can be replaced with a new one using the R key to select a replacement from the players held batteries. On a full charge, the Seaglide can travel approximately 3800 meters.

The Seaglide possesses a 3D map of nearby terrain and a flashlight that can be turned on and off, using the F key and right click, respectively.

The Seaglide's speed is affected by the player's Suit and Oxygen tanks but not by Fins. However, the values are much lower, like the Standard O₂ Tank will slow it down but only by -0.05. Only the Reinforced Dive Suit affects it's speed, however, it also changes the values for the tanks when worn, see Swimming Speed article for details. The Fragments can be found in the Kelp Forest and in Safe Shallows.

While wearing Swim Charge Fins, as long as the player remains moving the Seaglide will slowly gain charge rather than losing it, allowing for effectively infinite use. One recommendation to maximize this feature is to switch a low or depleted battery from another tool with the battery on the Seaglide. Even if the battery has 0% charge the fins will recharge it. The Seaglide will turn on and off once or twice in the beginning but right after that it will start gaining power faster than losing it.

Uses

The Seaglide can be carried in the inventory and must be assigned to the toolbar to be used. When used, it drastically increases the player's swimming speed. It doesn't have a depth limit, and thus functions anywhere the player goes underwater. However, it cannot be used at or above sea level. The 3D display also won't work above water, only the flashlight. The player will swim at normal speed until they submerge. Therefore swimming below the sea level is superior to swimming at the sea level.

The top speed is 11 m/s, making it only slightly slower than the Seamoth, and slightly faster than the Cyclops at "ahead standard".

The Seaglide is one of the most used tools in Subnautica, especially early on.

Seaglide Tech Scan.jpg

The seaglide is a personal transportation device designed for use in oceanic environments.

- Capable of speeds of up to 36km/h in standing water
- Displays basic topographical data for aid in charting cave systems
- Replaceable battery
- Keep fingers clear of propeller

Trivia

  • The Seaglide works in the same way as a handheld DPV (diver propulsion vehicle).
  • The databant entry erroneously states it's maximum speed is 36km/h while it's actually 39.6km/h.
    • However, the error may stem from being tested while wearing high end gear. As when wearing the Ultra High Capacity O2 Tank and Reinforced Dive Suit it's maximum speed will be around 36.18km/h.
  • There is a removed, upgraded variant of the Seaglide named the Powerglide, which traveled three times faster than the Seaglide.
  • In early builds, the storage unit on Lifepod 5 contained a free Seaglide at the start of the game.
  • With full acceleration, a Seaglide can jump into the moonpool without using the ladders.
  • In the early prototype stage of the game, it was known as the Seajet.[1]
