It can only be found as a large resource deposit in the Inactive Lava Zone and more sparingly in the Lava Lakes, making it difficult to mine. It is also one of the few scannable materials.

Kyanite is a blue silicate mineral which forms under high temperature, high pressure conditions. It is resistant to heat up to 1100 degrees Celsius, and is commonly used as an electrical insulator. Assessment: Essential for advanced vehicle modification

• There were once single pieces of Kyanite that could be found in deep Biomes, such as the Blood Kelp Zone or the Dunes as of the Precursor Update. These were removed in the Castles & Coffee Update.
