Dropped Flares Despawn?

I dropped several flares in a spot where they wouldn't roll away, and when I looked for them later they were all gone. Was this a bug, or is the page incorrect when it says that dropped flares never despawn? I considered that sea monkeys might have taken them, except the flares were right next to the starting pod location (in the shallow water), and I've never seen a sea monkey in that area. —Adalace (T|C) 23:06, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
