Template:Infobox:Fauna Flora The Coral Tube is a type of fauna found in the Safe Shallows, Crash Zone and Kelp Forest biomes. It does not currently do anything other than provide the player with coral samples when hit with a knife. The coral tube is a good source of Calcium Carbonate. If hit enough times, the Coral Tube will disappear.

Coral Tubes can be large enough for a player to swim through them, as well as small fish. Some plants also inhabit coral tubes, such as Purple Fans and Acid Mushrooms.

There is also a larger variant of the Coral Tube that can be found in the Safe Shallows. The larger Coral Tubes have many raw materials inside and also passages that lead into caves.

Appearance

The Coral Tube is long and hollow, usually possessing a slender middle and wide, trumpet-like ends. They vary in length from around fifteen to twenty feet to hundreds of feet long. It is common to find small slabs of coral protruding from the ends of the Coral Tubes.

Data Bank Entry

The giant coral tubes and slanted shell plates appear to be different solutions to the same problem of maximizing water and nutrient flow throughout the colony. Despite external differences these structures are built by very similar organisms on similar principles. Samples are rich in calcium.

Assessment: Exploitable in bleach fabrication
