Its wreckage is broken into three sections, with the largest of the three ending up on a downward slope bordering the Purple Vents, Lilypad Islands and Tree Spires, the second-largest in the Lilypad Islands, and the smallest at the edge of the Purple Vents over a crevasse. A Laser Cutter is needed to explore most of the ship's areas, as well as Propulsion Cannon for an optional room in the two main segments.

Story

According to the Favro boards, the Mercury II is intended to be somewhere between 30 to 100 years old to support the immense amount of rusting and vegetation.[1]

A piece of Ship Wreck Salvage recovered from the downed ship is needed to repair Radio Tower 7, allowing Robin to re-establish communication with the Vesper.

The ship was probably not an Alterra vessel, as its blocky, jagged design does not resemble the smooth, rounded aesthetic favored by Alterra.

Numbered "Ship Crew Log" PDAs can be found inside all segments of the wreckage. Currently, they have no text.

Stern Wreck

The stern of the Mercury II can be found at a depth of around 100m at the edge of the Purple Vents and Tree Spires, just east by southeast of the Rocket Island. A Laser Cutter is needed to explore most of the rooms. Spinefish can be found here.

The player can find two Power Cells, three Batteries, two Disinfected Water and two Nutrient Blocks in supply crates scattered inside the wreckage.

Engine Room

In the engine room, a Ship Wreck Salvage item can be found behind a panel on one of the engine sections. A Laser Cutter is needed in order to access the room, as well to extract the salvage itself. The Ship Crew Log 1 PDA is also found in this room.

Ship Crew Log 2 Room

A Reactor Rod inside a sealed supply crate and the Ship Crew Log 2 PDA can both be found in a room blocked by debris that can be pulled away using the Propulsion Cannon.

Bow Wreck

The bow of the ship can be found at a depth of around 250m in the Lilypad Islands, in an area surrounded by Squidsharks. Plenty of Red Feather Fish can be found inside, as well as Roots growing through parts of the wreck.

Five Reactor Rods can be found in sealed supply crates scattered throughout the wreck. One is close to a rusted Nuclear Reactor, a second is in a room blocked by debris that can be removed with a Propulsion Cannon. Three more are inside another open room with two rectangular exits and a hole at the floor leading to the crew quarters. The player can also find two Power Cells and a Battery inside supply crates scattered inside the ship.

Ship Crew Log 4 Room

Ship Crew Log 4 can be found in an isolated room, located on a higher floor that can be accessed by swimming up a stairwell.

Alien Containment Room

This room is entered by cutting through a sealed door in the hallway accessible through a hole in the top of the wreck. It has two further sealed doors leading to other areas and Ship Crew Log 8, located close to an Alien Containment.

Bridge

The ship's bridge can be seem from the very front of the ship wreck outside, identified by a large window. It is accessed from the room with the Alien Containment. Inside, Ship Crew Log 9 can be found inside.

Breached Room

A large room of unclear function accessed by cutting through the other sealed door in the Alien Containment room. Three Reactor Rods can be found in chests in this room, and Ship Crew Log 7 can be found lying on the ground just past the sealed door. The main feature of this room is a hole in the floor which allows access to a small cave system underneath the wreck. Through this cave, the player can access the Crew Quarters though a hole in that room's floor.

Crew Quarters

This area can be accessed from the breached room by swimming through the cave underneath the wreck. The area consists of the ship's cafeteria and a series of dormitories. One of the bunk beds in the dormitories contains a Reinforced Dive Suit.

In the cafeteria area, the player can find Ship Crew Log 5, three supply crates each containing one Disinfected Water and one Nutrient Block, a pocket of breathable air at the top, and a ventilation pipe with a dead end in the cafeteria.

Detached Thruster

The smallest fragment is a detached pair of thrusters. It is located over a crevasse at the edge of Purple Vents and Lilypad Islands, 1000m southeast of the Lifepod at 150m depth. A couple of Cryptosuchus are found nearby, complicating any attempt at entry. There is an Architect Artifact close to it, and the Deep Purple Vents just below, with a tunnel leading straight to Crystal Caves.

The segment has just two rooms. The player can find a built Seatruck Afterburner Upgrade on the floor in the main room, plus a Reactor Rod inside a sealed crate. An alternative Ship Wreck Salvage be acquired by cutting through a panel in the second room.
