It serves a vital role in maintaining security in Sector Zero. Several databank entries can be found here, indicating that Alterra is aware of Marguerit Maida and Robin Ayou's presence on the planet. Jeremiah Murgle was in charge of maintaining the tower prior to evacuation.

Sabotaging the Tower

Once the player meets Marguerit at her base, she will ask for the tower to be sabotaged so Alterra cannot spy on her. Sabotaging the tower requires the Test Override Module, which can be scanned in her base.

Components for the Parallel Processing Unit, which is used to craft the Test Override Module, can be found in the wrecks of the Mercury II. Once the player has fabricated the module, it can be inserted into a maintenance port on the backside of the tower's upper level.

Once the module has been inserted, the player can return to the tower's terminal and activate test mode, rendering the tower useless. Marguerit will call shortly afterwards and give the player directions to her greenhouse.

When working normally, the tower's dish rotates steadily. After being switched to Test Mode, it erratically changes focus and swivels in random directions.
