The Rabbit Ray is a type of passive life form belonging to the fauna category.

It mainly dwells in the Kelp Forest and Safe Shallows, but can often be found in the Crash Zone.

Appearance

The Rabbit Ray is comparably small, having a rather flat body. Its head has two large eyes, a small mouth resembling that of a real life rabbit, and two bright orange protrusions pointing backward. Its body adorns two large undulating wings and ends with a pair of caudal fins.

The Rabbit Ray also features a spectacular body coloration, with most of which is capable of emitting bioluminescent glows: its wings having glowing blue outlines, its dark blue dorsal side dotted with bright blue spots, its underside a dull yellow, and its tail fins blue and orange in color.

Behavior

The Rabbit Ray will swim around aimlessly, but can be observed staying in one spot near their eggs.

If the player gets close to a Rabbit Ray, it will emit different variations of a soft cry. Their cries can be heard even if the player is not around them. The cry can be notably heard in the Safe Shallows.

Trivia

  • Originally, the player was supposed to be able to grab onto Rabbit Rays and use them as a makeshift Seaglide. This feature was then transferred to the Spadefish, and then tragically scrapped altogether[citation needed].
