The Seamoth Sonar is an Seamoth Upgrade Module that allow the player to navigate underwater. This is a dedicated system for detecting and displaying geographical data on the HUD. This allows the player to navigate easier at night, find their way out of complex cave systems and detect land masses before crashing into them. Each sonar ping drain 1% of the Seamoth's power each time it is used. To use it, click the left mouse button. There is a reload time before it can be used again.

It is crafted with the mini-fabricator on the Seamoth Modification Station, which is located in the Moon Pool. The module must be placed in the Seamoth's upgrade panel to function.

It is advised to used the power efficiency module, for they sonar may use a lot of power later in the game, and the power it takes to move around might cause you to lose power during travel between bases.

Trivia

  • Sonar (originally an acronym for SOund Navigation And Ranging) is a technique that uses sound propagation to navigate under the surface of the water. Two types of technology share the name "sonar": passive sonar is essentially listening for the sound made by vessels; active sonar is emitting pulses of sounds and listening for echoes, which this module for the Seamoth uses.
