The Rabbit Ray is a passive fauna species which dwells mainly in the Kelp Forest and Safe Shallows, but can often be found in the Crash Zone. It is named after its two large orange ears.
Appearance
The Rabbit Ray is comparably small, having a rather flat body. Its head has two large eyes, a small mouth resembling that of a real-life rabbit, and two bright orange protrusions pointing backward. Its body adorns two large undulating wings and ends with a pair of caudal fins.
The Rabbit Ray also features a spectacular body coloration, most of which is capable of emitting a bioluminescent glow: its wings having glowing blue outlines, its dark blue dorsal side dotted with bright blue spots, its underside a dull yellow, and its tail fins blue and orange in color.
Behavior
The Rabbit Ray will swim around gracefully but can be observed staying in one spot near their eggs.
If the player gets close to a Rabbit Ray, it will emit different variations of a soft cry. Their cries can be heard even if the player is not around them. The cry can be notably heard in the Safe Shallows.
Rabbit Rays have an unusual ability to swim around fragments. However, this behavior is uncommon and should not be relied on.

Data Bank Entry
A herbivorous aquatic lifeform, rabbit rays appear to live serene and solitary lives, with few predators, a natural sense of curiosity, and poisonous flesh. 1. Ears: 2. Undulating Wings: Evidence indicates its large, side-facing eyes are relatively recent adaptations. It is likely there are related ray species in other environmental biomes on the planet. Assessment: Inedible but harmless |
