The Destroyed Lifepods are small survival vessels that were launched from the Aurora during its descent. While several lifepods survived initially, when the player awoke after being unconscious for 3 hours in Lifepod 5, it was the only one still intact.
As of now, seven Destroyed Lifepods are present in-game.

Future Plans
In the future, destroyed lifepods will be moved out of the Safe Shallows and Kelp Forest, to the Grassy Plateaus.[1] They will also have PDAs left behind by their occupants, detailing their fate and hinting at new technologies to be acquired. This is supported by Cory Strader, who says that the Destroyed Lifepods will be moved to deeper biomes, such as the Mushroom Forest, as he felt they were clustered together in their original spots.
