Farming alien plants is a proven survival strategy. Craig McGill survived 47 months on a healthy, raw salad of live tree-roaches and stankroot. File:ExteriorGrowbedVO.ogg
― PDA, Dialogue

The Exterior Growbed is an Appliance that can be constructed with the Habitat Builder. Its main purpose is to allow the player to plant underwater and terrestrial flora outside of their bases, with the express purpose of farming them. It can be placed on any reasonably flat bit of ground, but if no such surface is available or if the player wishes to, it could be built on a Foundation or on a section of a Moonpool's roof.
The Exterior Growbed allows the player to utilize the farmed materials for manufacturing, fueling the Bioreactor or for decorating their base. The Exterior Growbed has 24 slots total.
Exterior Growbeds can be found on the Floating Island, and must be scanned in order to obtain it. One is found beside a Degasi Seabase, housing a Chinese Potato Plant, Small Marblemelon, and a Marblemelon Plant. A Interior Growbed can be found inside an Observatory inside a different Degasi Seabase, housing a Lantern Tree, Fern Palm, Grub Basket, Voxel Shrub, and Jaffa Cup. Six can be found away from the Degasi Seabases, housing multiple flora.
Dismantling a Growbed without removing its contents will result in their loss: they are not refunded to the player along with the construction materials.
