To obtain the Coffee Vending Machine blueprint, scan one of the Coffee Vending Machines with the Scanner. The Coffee Vending Machine can be used to get Coffee Americano and has unlimited usage. The Coffee Vending Machine can produce up to two cups of Coffee Americano at a time and takes seventeen seconds to finish. When the Coffee Vending Machine has finished brewing, Coffee Americano will appear in the player's Inventory, if they are close enough. Its usage in game is rather cosmetic mainly because Coffee Americano isn't the best nor the most efficient source of water but it is free and unlimited. However, given its small size, the fact that it's wall mounted and its low build cost it can work as an emergency source of water or when one simply spends a lot of time in Seabases. Especially early on, when water isn't easy to come by, it might prove very useful. Even though one can only get 2 coffees (+8 water) per 17 seconds from a single Coffee Vending Machine it's enough to prevent death from dehydration if used as often as possible. One can also construct more than a single machine and use them in sequence. It can also be used to offset the dehydrating side effect of eating Snacks, It is not really used as a survival tool but more like a cosmetic item or snack.
