They are capable of containing massive amounts of energy equivalent to a 'small nuclear detonation' in a stable state. Ion Cubes are used to power certain Precursor devices, such as Alien Arches, which will only function once an Ion Cube has been inserted. They can also be used to craft Purple Alien Tablet, as well as modify to become versions of Batteries and Power Cells. Ion Cubes can be found in Alien Bases, and Caches. Large Ion Cube Deposits can be found in the Alien Thermal Plant and the Primary Containment Facility and require the Prawn Suit Drill Arm equipped to break them up before they can be picked up. Ion Cubes can be created in the form of Large Ion Cube Deposits in the Antechamber within the Primary Containment Facility.
