The Mushroom Forest is a biome characterized by a type of towering coral known as Tree Mushrooms, as well as many other types of life forms, especially flora.

Description

The Northwestern Mushroom Forest is the largest of the two Mushroom Forests.

This forest borders the Dunes, Grassy Plateaus, small portions of the Safe Shallows, and one of the Kelp Forests. It is dominated by a single Giant Tree Mushroom. The player is advised to stay cautious while exploring this area, as Bonesharks tend to lurk in the dense Tree Mushrooms as well as several Reaper Leviathans found along the Dunes border of the this biome.

Wreck 9 can also be found in the Northwestern Mushroom Forest.

Spoiler alert: The following section contains story related material.

A Alien Warp Gate Cache can be found inside a small cave, in a trench located on the outskirts of the biome along the border with the Safe Shallows.

Description

The Northeastern Mushroom Forest is the smallest of the two Mushroom Forests. It is found next to, and nearly underneath the front of the Aurora.

It is densely packed with Tree Mushrooms and features occasional cliffs that lead down to the Bulb Zone. Bonesharks aren't found dwelling here, so this forest is typically safer than the Northwestern Mushroom Forest, but however, Mesmers are present and a Reaper Leviathan that can wonder away from the Crash Zone may travel into this biome. An entrance to the largest Mushroom Forest Caves is located embedded into a cliff. This forest is packed with resources, especially Lithium. On its northern side, the Mountains and Kelp Forest can be found, with its east side leading to the Grassy Plateaus.

Spoiler alert: The following section contains story related material.

An Alien Pipe Entrance Point is found in this Mushroom Forest.

Trivia

  • During early development of the Lost River, the Mushroom Forest was planned to be one of the entrances to it.
  • The Mushroom Forest harbours more Harvesting Nodes than any other biome.
