Template:Infobox:Fauna Flora Drooping Stingers are a life form belonging to the flora category.

They appear in caves, where they are attached to the rock ceiling, waiting for prey to be caught by their tentacles. They can also be found hanging in the south west Kelp Forest blocking small cave openings and tunnels. Touching a Drooping Stinger causes damage. They can also damage the Seamoth. Drooping Stingers are bioluminescent.

A 3D model of the Drooping Stingers can be found here.

Appearance

Drooping Stingers look like a hybrid between a sea anemone and a jellyfish. They have a top shaped like an upside-down purple petal with reddish edges, which is lined with eight small tendrils.

From this petal extends a single thick, pink tendril downwards, which is lined with a purple spiral band with blue sides littered with white dots.

Data Bank Entry

  1. Zero photosynthetic cells detected. Implies carnivorous adaptation to low-light environments.
  2. Follicles along the tentacles capable of detecting contact with foreign bodies, triggering an electromagentic charge in the 600 watt range. Prey is likely paralyzed and consumed over many weeks.

Prey: Small fish

Assessment: Avoid
