Subnautica 2 is a sequel to Subnautica currently under development at Unknown Worlds Entertainment. Unlike its Unity-based predecessors, Subnautica 2 will be made in Unreal Engine 5[1] and, in addition to traditional singleplayer, feature an optional[2] 2-4 player co-op mode[1]. Not much is currently known about the game's setting, other than that it takes place sometime after the events of Below Zero[3] on an unknown, new planet[1].
On the 17th October 2024 the first trailer for Subnautica 2 was released, along with the digital store pages for it, confirming the game will be released in 2025 and will be able to be played both single-player and via co-op play with other players, it will be the first game in the series to officially support co-op play.[4]
