They are far smaller and more advanced than current human nanotechnology allows and their function remains unknown. We don’t know what they do, but here are some ideas. They may be used medically to repair/remove certain parts of the architects. Also it may be used in neural chips or something similar, since we know from Subnautica Below Zero that they have control over some technology they have made (Most notably how they can control their extra arms)

Nanobots
