Jochi Khasar was a Mongolian emissary on board the Aurora. His purpose was to search for the missing Mongolian vessel, the Degasi. Khasar escaped from the ship in Lifepod 13, which crashed down in the Northwestern Mushroom Forest soon after launch.

Pre-Crash

Before the Aurora's crash, Khasar tells a crewmember that he finds a tendency amongst Alterrans to think that they have it best, but that their way is the only way to have it, claiming that the Mongolian States have the freedom to work for themselves. The crewmember protests that most of them are contractors. Khasar asks who's ship they were living on, theirs or Alterra's. The crewmember replies that Khasar would do well to remember who's ship he was living on, referring to him as a Mongolian. Khasar simply says that according to his religious beliefs, the ship belongs to them all, and adds that the only difference is that they choose where to draw lines. The crewmember mutters that it was wise words for someone coming from a cowboy operation fighting over rocks in the far reaches of space.

Khasar also reported information on the Degasi crew members in the Degasi Crew Manifest logs.

Post-Crash

After escaping into Lifepod 13, Khasar prays for his survival, until his Lifepod breaks into the atmosphere, his attitude changes, and instead asks to "return him", suggesting he knows he will die.

It is likely Khasar died when his Lifepod impacted the surface.

Trivia

• "Jochi" may be a reference to "Jochi Borjigin", who was a eldest son of Genghis Khan.
• Khasar's log suggests that he is religious.
  • This is further supported by the argument between him and the Aurora crewmember, about the differences between Alterran and Mongolian life. The crewmember referred to Khasar's arguments as "religious nonsense".
