It is normal when first piloting a PRAWN suit to feel a sense of limitless power. PRAWN operators receive weeks of training to counteract this phenomenon. You will have to make do with self-discipline. File:PrawnVO.ogg
― PDA, Dialogue

The PRAWN (Pressure Reactive Armored Waterproof Nanosuit) Mk III is a bipedal mechanical walker designed for use in both high-pressure and vacuum environs. A plasteel-reinforced canopy of enameled glass protects the pilot from most outside dangers; maximum dexterity is afforded by two hydraulic limbs that can strike with enough force to crush bone and breach plasteel armor. Two powerful nozzles on the vehicle's back provide vertical thrust as well as limited lateral mobility while not in contact with the ground. It also comes equipped with a locator beacon, similar to the Cyclops and the Seamoth.
Before a PRAWN can be built, its fragments must first be scanned. Several semi-intact vehicles are located in the Aurora's vehicle bay, which each account for a quarter of the blueprint; many smaller fragments can be found in various wrecks around the upper biomes, which each account for a twentieth of the blueprint.
A 3D model of the PRAWN can be found on Sketchfab.

Overview
The PRAWN Mk III can be used to explore deep, dark places and has a base crush depth of 900 meters; upgrading with a Mk II Depth Module increases this to 1,700 meters, making it the best deep exploration vehicle. However, due to its limited vertical the lowerest lateral mobility, it may be wise to use a Cyclops for transport, as certain biomes such as the Blood Kelp Zone or Underwater Islands may prove difficult end even restrictive.
Upon entering, unless the onboard energy supply is depleted - as is the case with the Seamoth and Cyclops - the player's oxygen stores will be replenished. It also has a health meter, and reaching zero will cause the vehicle to malfunction catastrophically and explode. Unlike the Seamoth, however, the PRAWN is heavily armored and can endure most things that would otherwise severely damage or destroy a Seamoth, such as a Reaper Leviathan's grip.
Alternatively, the PRAWN can be used to explore dangerous areas above sea level, but keep in mind that it's not as mobile on land. The thrusters are designed to take advantage of water's bouyancy and nearly useless in air, even with enhanced jumpjets installed. As the vehicle is immune to extreme temperatures and poisonous elements (direct contact with lava is not advised), it's also useful for mining resources in hazardous areas and collecting gas pods, or for simple protection against most small and medium-sized predators.
The PRAWN requires energy from two Power Cells to operate and can be docked inside a Cyclops or a Moonpool to recharge. It comes equipped with a 6x4 inventory space, accessed from outside in the rear, which can be expanded by installing storage modules. Any items picked up with the claw arm or drilled with the drill arm are automatically placed in the vehicl's inventory if there is room. Bear in mind that there is a slight delay between clicking and activating the respective claw arm on the suit, so a player may accidentally punch a creature they are trying to collect or miss a falling item.

How to Use
PC and Mac
- Enter the Prawn Suit with LMB.
- Pilot the Prawn Suit using the same controls as walking on dry land or in a Seabase.
- Exit the Prawn Suit with E. The Prawn Suit will assume a "sitting" position when not in use, allowing the player to access its Power Cells, storage compartment and upgrade panel.
- LMB and RMB to use the arms. LMB for the left arm, and RMB for the right arm.
- SPACE to jump, hold for the thrusters. Using the thrusters will deplete their internal energy, which recharges by itself when not in use.
Xbox One
Upgrades and Customization
The Prawn Suit can be customized with the Vehicle Upgrade Console, which the player can use to craft upgrades and change the vehicle's name and color scheme. Upgrades can be installed and swapped via a panel on its left shoulder. Opening the panel reveals six slots - four for vehicle upgrades and two for arm attachments. The storage, hull reinforcement and engine efficiency modules are compatible with the Seamoth.
Prawn Suit Depth Module |
Increases the vehicle's maximum crush depth by 400 meters, enabling it to survive greater pressure. It does not stack, unlike other upgrades.
| ||||||||||||||
Increases maximum onboard storage capacity by six slots. Effect stacks with multiple modules.
| |||||||||||||||
Strengthens chassis with a diamond lattice, permanently increasing hull durability. Decreases incoming damage by 20% and completely eliminates damage from ambient environmental hazards. Effect stacks with multiple modules.
| |||||||||||||||
Increases maximum battery life by recycling engine thermal waste and decreases total power consumption by 15%. Effect stacks with multiple modules.
| |||||||||||||||
Replenishes the onboard power supply by harnessing thermal energy in areas with an ambient temperature of 35ºC (95ºF) or greater. The charge rate depends on the amount of heat in the surrounding environment.
| |||||||||||||||
Greatly increases thruster power and provides greater acceleration and maneuverability. Useful for reaching high ledges when used in conjunction with the grappling arm; burst-fire greatly increases lateral jump range. (Activate by pressing and holding the spacebar on PC and Mac or the A button on the Xbox One)
Standard-issue manipulator arm. Useful for smashing rocks for resources or delivering quick strikes to fend off predators. Items picked up are transferred to the onboard storage unit. Can be applied to either or both arms. (Activate by pressing the corresponding mouse button on PC and Mac or pulling the corresponding trigger on Xbox One)
Allows for the drilling of large resource deposits, breaking them down into manageable fragments. Also an effective weapon against larger creatures. Can be applied to either arm. (Activate by pressing the corresponding mouse button on PC and Mac or pulling the corresponding trigger on Xbox One)
Fires a magnetic grappling claw that latches onto any solid object and pulls the vehicle toward it. Useful for retrieving items from otherwise inaccessible areas and reaching high ledges when used in conjunction with jump jets. Can be applied to either arm. (Activate by pressing the corresponding mouse button on PC and Mac or pulling the corresponding trigger on Xbox One)
Functions identically to the Propulsion Cannon tool. It can lift any item and launch it a significant distance using a gravitational distortion field. Useful for retrieving items from otherwise inaccessible areas. Can be applied to either arm. (Activate by pressing the corresponding mouse button on PC and Mac or pulling the corresponding trigger on Xbox One)
Functions identically to the the Seamoth torpedo launcher. Can hold up to six and fire two torpedoes simultaneously. Can be attached to both arms providing a total of twelve torpedoes. Can be applied to either or both arms. (Activate by pressing the corresponding mouse button on PC and Mac or pulling the corresponding trigger on Xbox One) |

Data Bank Entry
The Pressure Re-Active Waterproof Nano Suit is a range of mechs designed to protect the pilot from extreme environments. The Mk.III is the latest iteration, and has so far only been rolled out by Alterra for their own high-value, phasegate-related operations.
