It is constructed with the Habitat Builder, being designed to map the terrain of Biomes via controllable Camera Drones, to scan the environment and to detect resources in its vicinity. These drones can be controlled manually. Hatches and Windows can be placed on the Scanner Room. Four Upgrade Module slots can be found to the right of the camera drone panel, along with a mini-fabricator. The player must find three fragments to unlock the Scanner Room's blueprint. If a Scanner Room is constructed in an unpowered Seabase, it will not function.
Uses
In order to use the Scanner Room, the player must go to the camera station, which activates the drones. After activating, the camera drones will be controllable, and can be used to swim around the environment and map the terrain. These drones have a maximum range of about 500 meters by default before losing connection. Additional drones can be built but only two can charge at the Scanner Room. They can, however, be stolen by Stalkers who will pick them up and chew on them.
The Scanner Room will also scan for nearby resources, identifying them as red blips on the central hologram. It has a base scanning range of 300 meters and max of 500 meters. The scanner can only search for one resource type at a time and has a base time of fourteen seconds, but the searching speed and range can be increased to take two seconds at max with the Scanner Room Range Upgrade and Scanner Room Speed Upgrade; you can have more of the same upgrade in the scanner room to extend the range and speed even more. Furthermore, a HUD upgrade allows the player to see where the scanner has identified the resources in a similar fashion to signal devices when equipped in the chip slot of the paperdoll.
The Scanner Room may scan for Ruby, Crashfish Sulphuric Powder, Quartz, Metal Salvage, Gold, Silver Ore, Salt Deposit, Diamond, Lithium, Lead, Wrecks, Copper Ore, Uraninite Crystal, Sandstone Chunks, Fragments, Limestone Chunks, Heat Areas (Lava Geysers, etc.), Titanium, Shale Chunks, Reefback, Reaper Leviathan, Stalker Teeth and Eggs.
