A few console commands have been found to be working[1] in the current experimental build of Subnautica.

List of Commands

Warning! SAVE your game before using these cheats!

  • ITEM [NAME] [#]
    • Name: The item name. Knife, Fins, Tank, Salt, etc. For items with spaces (e.g. Stasis Rifle), make it one word (e.g. STASISRIFLE).
    • #: The number of items. Creates # items in the player's Inventory.
  • SPAWN [NAME] [#]
  • SUB CYCLOPS
    • Spawn the Cyclops in front of the player.
  • NODAMAGE
    • Toggles the cheat preventing player damage by life-forms and environment.
  • NOCOST
    • Toggles unlimited, free use of the Fabricator and Constructor, whether the player has the required items or not.
  • OXYGEN
    • Toggles oxygen cheat.
  • NIGHT
    • Sets time to night.
  • DAY
    • Sets time to day.
  • KILL
    • Respawn instantly inside the escape pod with inventory intact. Useful as a "teleport" feature. Not recommended on Hardcore game setting.
  • SPEED [#]
    • Sets the game speed multiplier (default 1). A # of "2" would be 2x gameplay speed. A float such as 0.1 will slow gamespeed to 10%.
  • DAYNIGHTSPEED [#]
    • Sets the day/night cycle speed multiplier (default 1). A # of "2" would be a day/night cycle twice as fast (shorter day and shorter night). A float such as 0.1 will make the day/night cycle 10x slower.
  • WARPME
    • Teleports you to your submarine.
  • TAKEDAMAGE [#]
    • Hurts the player for # damage.
  • NOSHADOWS
    • Removes shadows. Game restart needed to re-apply.
  • NOBLOOM
    • Removes bloom. Game restart needed to re-apply.
  • SPAWN
    • Respawns player a tiny distance away. Good for getting un-stuck.
  • BUBBLES
    • Spawns several bubbles (air) around you.
  • BIOME [name]
    • Teleports the player to a specific biome.
    • Biomes: shallows, kelp, grassy, koosh, islands, forest, tree, jellyshroom, inactivelava. Type BIOME without a biome name to see this list in-game.

Fun Examples

  • Use "SPEED 99", "OXYGEN", "NODAMAGE", and "DAYNIGHTSPEED 0.001" to explore free of worry and very quickly.
  • SAVE YOUR GAME FIRST! "SPAWN BOULDER" will spawn a giant boulder that breaks its way through the ocean floor. Depending on how it lands, the hole can be shallow or large. Follow it down! It disappears at ~10-20 meters away from the player.
  • "BIOME ISLANDS" will teleport you to the latest (and currently - the only) above-water island in the game.

How to use

Activate console.jpg

In the recent builds the console was made optional and is disabled by default. To activate it you need to press F3 and you'll see a checkbox ticked in the top left saying: "Console Disabled". Press ESC to get a mouse cursor and uncheck the box to activate the console.

Pressing Enter brings up an input box to enter commands

Press Enter and type one of the commands above.

Examples:

  • Spawning a Knife: ITEM KNIFE
  • Spawning a Flashlight: ITEM FLASHLIGHT
  • Spawning two Stalkers: SPAWN STALKER 2
  • Spawning five metal: ITEM METAL 5

List of spawnable creatures or items

Most known Materials, Vehicles and Life-Forms are spawnable directly by their name.

Items and Materials, like a Knife or Fins , can also be spawned inside the Inventory.
