The Secondary Bio-Research Facility is a precursor base found in the Lost River. Here creatures were infected with Carar and then sent to the Primary Research Facility for further testing in the attempt to develop a cure. It will be the point in the story that the player is revealed to be infected with Carar.

This precursor base is extremely damaged and will be completely filled with water, it lies on the floor as the cables it would have been suspended from were destroyed in an attack by an unknown Leviathan.
