Template:Infobox item The Scanner is a Tool capable of scanning Fragments, which are then used to create Blueprints. To acquire the blueprints of a particular item, the player needs to scan its corresponding fragments multiple times. The amount of times scanning is required varies based on the object. It takes about ten seconds to finish scanning. The Scanner is also able to scan Life Forms and Harvesting Nodes, doing so will add its specific entry into the PDA.

When the cursor is pointed at a scannable object, a white circle (a progress indicator) appears in the middle of the screen. If scanning is interrupted, the player can resume scanning with no loss of progress. The Scanner has a range of 5 meters.

If the scanner is not out, and the object is scannable, a small scanner icon will appear in the bottom right of the screen.

The Scanner requires a Battery to operate, and the Scanner will not be able to scan objects if it is out of power.

Trivia

  •  The Scanner replaced the Fragment Analyzer in the game, which was originally the only way of analyzing fragments.
  •  Currently, the Scanner cannot scan some life forms, but will most likely be updated accordingly in the future. It will also be able to scan precursor structures[1]
