The PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) currently works mainly as the players Inventory / Storage.
The player can access it pressing the TAB key.
The PDA will most likely gain a Compass feature[1]. Additionally the Development Trello shows a Minimap feature is being worked on[2].
It may also be used as a portable science device that helps studying Life-Forms and identifies their Attributes and DNA traits. Quote from developer concept notes: "can also use PDA to study a creature and get full read-out on their stats" [3].
