The Escape Pod is the player's current starting location. It is the only one that withstood the crash of the Colony Ship the player was on. Its frame identifies it as Lifepod 5.
The player can get in and out through the top or bottom, by using either the ladder or the bulkhead in the floor.
The internals appear to be damaged and smoldering. Can be repaired using the Welder.
It houses the Fabricator, an important Crafting tool and thus will be visited often in the early stages of the game.
It will also act as a Storage expansion[1].
