Bioluminescence is a chemical reaction with luciferin and either luciferase or photoprotein. Causing a living organism to "illuminate." In the game many life forms have an area that is bioluminescent. However, the light emitted will not always be very bright. One particularly bright source of light is the Grue Cluster.
