It can be harvested for salt deposits without the use of any tools. Two can always be located southeast from Wreck 9 in the Northwestern Mushroom Forest. Purple Pinecones are unable to be scanned, and therefore have no databank entry. Why exactly this unpolished item is still in the game is unknown. It is theorized that the developers might have completely forgotten about it while developing Subnautica and it remained in the game with a low spawn rate, probably to revisit it in the future.

Appearance

The Purple Pinecone is a small, spherical purple flower-shaped flora that seems to have a tough surface. It emits a dull bioluminescent glow.
