This process is referred to as "Compost Creepvine". Currently it only produces energy in some game modes.
As of the Habitat Update, the Bioreactor generates 200 power (energy) for seabases through the use of one "Compost Creepvine". When active, it produces energy at a rate of .167 per second (1 every 6 seconds) for 20 minutes.
It can also be damaged and destroyed by striking it 4 times with the knife.
