The Vampire Leviathan is the first creature to be seen on the planet.
The Ancient Precursors arrive.
The ancient cousin of Kharaa, Maraa, is released when the ancient precursors dropped a bomb on the planet.
Maraa dissolves, killing 89.97% of the Vampire Leviathan race in the process.
The Modern Precursors arrive.
The Precursors see the Vampire Leviathan as a threat, killing an extra 10% of the Vampire Leviathan race. The Vampire leviathan is now endangered.
A new 0.99% of the race has been killed. The remaining Vampires adapt into the Sea Dragon Leviathan race.

Precursor-Chicxili Events

Chicxili becomes Sea King of Planet 4546B, while Pedro becomes Sea King of Surface Biomes.
The Precursors arrive
The Precursors create the QEP, DRF, and the ATP.
One sea dragon bumps the DRF, releasing Kharaa.

Spoiler alert: The following section contains story related material.
Chicxili becomes able to summon the spirits of the Vampire Leviathans.
