It is able to attract the player, via hypnosis, toward the Mesmer. If the Mesmer succeeds in attracting the player and drawing the player in, it will attack the player, removing 30 health, and then flee. Its attitude is defensive.

The Mesmer will often home in on either the Seamoth or Cyclops and attach itself to their fronts if a player is inside. This does not do any damage, however.
