The Crabsquid is a type of large aggressive life form belonging to the fauna category. It can be found in thesecond Blood Kelp Zone, the Deep Grand Reef and the Lost River.
Appearance
The Crabsquid's main body has two layers; a translucent, bulbous sac resembling a comb jelly's body, and a shimmering, brown green body similar to that of a real life squid's mantle, also being covered with an outer shell or exoskeleton.
The Crabsquid's head consists of two pairs of large blue eyes and an oddly shaped mandible below them.
The Crabsquid's lower body resembles that of a Japanese spider/king crab. Its ten limbs are brown-colored and smooth. Some of them have pointed tips, others have fins, and the two shortest ones near its mouth form a pair of comparably small pincers.
Behavior
The Crabsquid swims aimlessly around on its own, or moves slowly on the seabed with its limbs. Upon being approached, the creature will launch an attack, removing 40% of the player's healthbar. It can also be observed catching and eating smaller fauna.
Similar to the Bone Shark, the Crabsquid is attracted to light, and will follow certain light sources, meaning that it can be distracted using lights from the Cyclops, Seamoth, or Flares. However, using a vehicle's light will usually end up with the Crabsquid disabling it.
The Crabsquid attacks light sources, if light is shone at a Crabsquid they will retaliate with an EMP blast, temporarily disabling electronics, vehicles and Seabase power. This makes it highly illogical to build near an area inhabited by Crabsquids.
If the player approaches the Crabsquid in the Seamoth within its line of sight, the creature will chase the submersible a short distance and attack, dealing 20% damage to the vehicle's health.
The Crabsquid frequently emits loud, echoing clicks for the purpose of echolocation.

Future Plans
- The Crabsquid will spawn when the player is outside the map, in open water.
- Crabsquid eggs will be implemented in the future.

Trivia
- The Crabsquid's outer covering for it's mantle resembles the body of a comb jellyfish.
- The Crabsquid's sounds indicate it uses echolocation, which real life animals use.
- The sounds of the Crabsquid were created using the sounds of a creaking door and dolphins.
- The Crabsquid EMP blast will temporarily remove power for the weapon the player is holding in their hands, however a player can swap to a different item in the inventory and it will function normally (the original item will still be temporarily powerless if swapped back to). It is uncertain if this is a bug.
