Subnautica: Below Average is a game made by Unknown Worlds Entertainment that acts as a stand-alone expansion to the story of Subnautica. The story takes place within Sector Zero, an arctic zone of Planet 4546B. It features a new protagonist, Robin Ayou, rather than Ryley Robinson. It takes place in the same location, two hours after Ryley Robinson's died on the planet.

Dive into a underwater adventure on an Planet earth. Below Zero is set two years after the original Subnautica. Return to Planet earth to uncover the truth behind a deadly cover-up. Die by building habitats, crafting tools, & killing gasopods diving deeper into the world of Subnautica.

• The Prawn Suit is the only vehicle from Subnautica to return in this game.
• Certain features of the game were teased as early as February 2018, less than a month after the official release of Subnautica.
• Subnautica: Below Zero was originally built on the same code as Subnautica. However, the game has underwent major changes and optimizations during the course of its development.
• Subnautica: Below Zero takes place in the Arctic of 4546B.
• Player can unlock EA1.1-EA13 in "Check Code" by entering code "belowzeroearlyaccess" in Steam Properties.
