Subnautica currently features three different Game Modes.
While it is too early to say what game modes Subnautica will feature on release the games source files are hinting at possibly three modes.
* Freedom: No [[food]] or [[H2O|water]] requirements. You will not die of thirst or hunger.

* Survival: In Survival mode, you must find, prepare, and consume [[food]] and fresh [[H2O|water]] to stay alive.
