Description
The World Edge is open ocean surrounding Sector Zero. Like the Crater Edge, it is absent of life, with the exception of three Void Chelicerate Leviathans inhabiting the area. The three Void Chelicerates in the biome act in a similar way to the three Adult Ghost Leviathans found in the Crater Edge, in that one spawns when the player enters the biome, a second one after thirty seconds, and a third and final one after another thirty seconds. Unlike the Adult Ghost Leviathans which spawn infinitely when one of their dead bodies despawn, if the player somehow kills all three of the Void Chelicerates since their bodies don't despawn when they die (no matter how far the player is away from their position), no other Void Chelicerates can spawn. This gives the possibility of removing the hazard of the Void Chelicerates altogether, allowing the player to venture out beyond the map or to build a base as deep as they can possibly go. It is unknown but highly likely that this will be patched.
When the player descends down to 2400 meters, a huge flat chunk of ground spawns due to unfinished rendering of terrain from development. This unfinished terrain extends as far down as 3040 meters where all terrain stops rendering. It is unknown but hopeful and plausible that the more realistic terrain at the bottom of the Crater Edge from Subnautica prior to the Big Little Update approximately 3 kilometers below the surface will return in Subnautica Below Zero. When the player exceeds 8192 meters in any given direction relative to the origin of the world, they will be teleported back to the aforementioned origin.
