Salt is essential for crafting cured food and Disinfected Water from Bleach. This makes it very important in the Survival mode of Subnautica. Salt Deposits can be found on the seabed in many biomes, such as the Kelp Forest. They look like small white cube-shaped crystals. The most plentiful locations of salt can be found on the Mountain Island and in the Crash Zone, as well as in deeper biomes, such as the Mushroom Forest, Grassy Plateaus, and the Bulb Zone. Salt Deposits can also be harvested from Purple Pinecones. Salt Deposits can be found as a large resource deposit. Salt Deposits can also be produced by desalination using the Water Filtration Machine.
