The player can press {{Key|RMB}} to fix the '''Pathfinder Tool's''' anchor to the ground. The cable of the '''Pathfinder Tool''' will extend from that point as the player moves around and will go around corners. The player does not need to keep the '''Pathfinder Tool''' equipped for it to extend. This is helpful for finding the player's way while exploring caves with many or hard-to-see paths. The player can press {{Key|RMB}} again to put down the '''Pathfinder Tool'''.
The player can press {{Key|RMB}} to eject a disk from the '''Pathfinder Tool'''. The disc will emit a blue holographic projection. The first disk will emit a sphere; the other 19 disks will emit an arrowhead, which will point at the next disk in the line. Every five seconds, the first disk will pulse green, and the next one will pulse green after a half-second, and continue in this manner down the line.

When the player is finished using the '''Pathfinder Tool''', they can return to the anchor, equip the '''Pathfinder Tool''' and pick up the anchor with {{Key|LMB}}.
