Warning: You have sustained moderate head trauma, and been unconscious for 3 hours. In the circumstances this is considered an optimal outcome. Your PDA now has one directive: to keep you alive on a hostile world. Please familiarize yourself with its functions. Good luck.File:NewPDAIntro.ogg
― PDA, Dialogue
The PDA (Personal Data Assistant), also known as a Survival PDA, is a multipurpose device that the player keeps with them at all times.
By default, the player can access the PDA by pressing the TAB key.
Abandoned PDAs can be found inside and occasionally around Degasi Seabases, the Aurora, Destroyed Lifepods, and certain Wrecks.
The PDA allows the player to access their inventory, view their log messages and data bank, and view the photos they have taken (by default, press F11 to take a photo).
The PDA's AI keeps the player informed of their health status and will alert the player when the player's oxygen is 30 or 10 seconds away from running out, or if the Player is getting close to dehydration or malnutrition. It also gives useful information to the player when they enter new areas or find new materials.
