The Player is the main protagonist of Subnautica. He survived the impact from the Aurora by escaping into Lifepod 5.

Appearance

The player is a young, fit man with dark eyes and hair. He has a long face, pronounced features, and blue streaks in his hair.

The player appears to have a good degree of stamina, able to swim for long distances and holding his breath for long periods of time.

Behaviour

The player does not typically speak, but can be heard gasping for air if he stays under for too long, and letting out shrieks of pain if he is attacked. He can be heard grunting when escaping the Aurora in his Lifepod, and coughing when putting out the fire inside.

Pre-Crash

Not much is known about the player's life before the crash of the Aurora, however, he was a member of the Alterra corporation, and was on board the Aurora prior to the crash.

Post-Crash

The player is seen boarding and launching Lifepod 5 during the descent of the Aurora. After being knocked out by a loose panel, the player then proceeds to put out a fire inside the lifepod using a Fire Extinguisher. Afterwards, he activates his PDA, and the user is able to take full control of him.

• A model of the Player can be found in the Active Lava Zone. It's use is unknown, though it may be for size reference.
