The Northeastern Mushroom Forest is the smaller of the two Mushroom Forests. It is found next to the front of the Aurora. |
It is characterised by large tree-like coral structures and brownish grass on the ground. The biome towards the northwest is dominated by a single Giant Coral Tree with a Mushroom Forest Cave inside. |
It is densely packed with Tree Mushrooms and features occasional cliffs that lead down to the Bulb Zone. Most of the Fauna of the Bulb Zone, including its predators (Mesmers, Ampeels and Bonesharks) will often wander into the Northeastern Mushroom Forest, making it equally if not more dangerous as the Northwestern one. A Reaper Leviathan that wanders away from the Crash Zone may travel into this biome. In addition to this, there is always a Reaper Leviathan close to the border with the Mountains and a Kelp Forest, the area near a naturally formed bridge. It is strongly advised to stay away from this small section of the biome as it is highly dangerous. |
== Coral Trees == |
The Coral Trees consist of a tall coral stem with mushroom caps protruding branch-like from them. The trees grow to different heights and can grow up to 100 meters tall. The largest Coral Trees often have basalt chunks at the top. Some of them will also grow lithium on their bark. |
Near the Crash Zone, a small clearing can be found that is home to a large amount of Boneshark Eggs. The numbers can vary, from 2-5 eggs. |
The player can break off the mushroom caps by hitting them with the Survival Knife or colliding with them while driving a submarine, causing them to slowly drift to the ground. Currently the mushroom caps drop an item called Tree Mushroom Sample. |
An entrance to the largest Mushroom Forest Caves is located embedded into a cliff, facing the Bulb Zone, below the largest Tree Mushroom. These caves also connect to one of the Bulb Zone Caves. |
== Giant Coral Tree == |
The Mushroom Forest is dominated by a single Giant Coral Tree. Its roots spread throughout the entire forest that it is in. |
This forest is packed with resources, especially Lithium and Shale Outcrops. |
This Giant Coral Tree is unique in various ways. Not only can dozens of basalt chunks be found on its stem, top, branches, and roots, but it is also the only Coral Tree that is accessible by the player. Apart from a small cave at its base, there is also a larger cavern that goes all the way from the top to the base of the tree, with two entrances located at the top and the base. In this cave, more basalt chunks and plants native to the Mushroom Forest can be found, with Grue Clusters and Tree Leech lighting the way. |
Due to the depth of the cave and the resulting drowning hazard, it is strongly recommended to navigate the Seamoth into it. However, this can be rather difficult. |

The biomass in this area is dominated by plantlife. Picking up faint Alterra technology signatures. File:MushroomForestIntro.ogg
― PDA, Dialogue

The Mushroom Forests are biomes characterized by towering coral known as Tree Mushrooms, as well as many other types of life forms, especially flora.
