Looking like a hybrid between a sea anemone and a Jellyfish they are attached to rock, waiting for prey to be entangled in their tentacles.

It is highly recommended not to touch/get close to the stingers as they can severely harm the player, temporarily obscuring their vision with a green haze and dealing near-fatal injuries. Running into one will deal 50 damage over 3 seconds and speed up the decline in nutrition, similar to the effect of Gas Pods released by Gasopods. The damage will heal back rapidly after a short time.
Behavior
Their behavior was fleshed out on this trello card.

They can also damage the Seamoth, dealing 25 damage over 5 seconds on contact, which will slowly heal back. If the Seamoth is brought below 50 health by a Drooping Stinger, it will explode.
A few key points are:

*Damages anything live that touches it (Poison damage).
Drooping Stingers can be moved using the Propulsion Cannon. Be cautious, however, as they can still cause damage while tractored.
*Target gets set as GameFlagState.Poisoned for 5 seconds (GameFlag.Set(obj, GameFlag.Poisoned, 5)

*While poisoned, loop poison damage sound for creature, and take damage over time.
Appearance
*Smaller variants do less damage for less time (-50%), larger variants do more damage for a longer time (+50%).
Despite being classified as flora, the Drooping Stinger resembles a real-life cnidarian, an animal phylum with its entire body made of gelatinous, translucent substances which emit a bright violet bioluminescent glow.
*When emissive lights on Stinger are glowing, that means the Stinger is active. After it stings a target, it becomes stops glowing for 5 to 10 seconds (random). Then it fades the glow back up over 1 second, after which time it is active again. Alternatively, the stingers could retract a bit instead of change their glow if that’s much easier.

Its main body sports an umbrella-like base from which drops out a long, single, spiral-shaped tendril downwards. Multiple smaller tendrils hang off of the base.

1. Zero photosynthetic cells detected. Implies carnivorous adaptation to low-light environments.

2. Follicles along the tentacles are capable of detecting contact with foreign bodies, triggering an electromagnetic charge in the 600-watt range. Prey is likely paralyzed and consumed over many weeks.

They can also be found hanging in the southwest Kelp Forest.

Spoiler alert: This section will reveal story-related material if expanded.

Drooping Stingers can also be seen hanging from the ceiling of the Degasi Seabase in the Jellyshroom Cave.

They can also damage the Seamoth, dealing 25 damage over 5 seconds on contact, which will slowly heal back. If the Seamoth is brought below 50 health by a Drooping Stinger, it will explode.

Drooping Stingers can be moved using the Propulsion Cannon. Be cautious, however, as they can still cause damage while tractored.

Appearance

Despite being classified as flora, the Drooping Stinger resembles a real-life cnidarian, an animal phylum with its entire body made of gelatinous, translucent substances which emit a bright violet bioluminescent glow.

Its main body sports an umbrella-like base from which drops out a long, single, spiral-shaped tendril downwards. Multiple smaller tendrils hang off of the base.
