Alien Robots are small robots created by the Precursor Race. They are found roaming within the Alien Thermal Plant and the Primary Containment Facility.

The Precursor Droid is an in-development entity. They were created by the Precursors to act a repair bots, and as such are equipped with two welding tools. They are also programmed to defend Precursor Bases from intruding lifeforms, and will use the aforementioned tools as weapons if the need arises.

They spark when they take damage and explode when destroyed. Similar to the Cave Crawler, the Alien Robots are able to climb vertical surfaces and hang upside-down.

Their Player detection area is fairly small, and they lose interest in the player very easily, making them appear almost passive sometimes.

Despite the databank entry, they can't be picked into the inventory.

This device is of alien origin, although its design is relatively simple.

1. Purpose:
Its low threat level is at odds with the advanced technology apparently available to its designers, suggesting it was intended more to patrol alien facilities and repair damaged infrastructure than to deter invaders.

2. Design:
Despite its simple design, this construction is quite elegant in its minimalism. Four electro-magnetic legs allow it to traverse floors, walls and ceilings with reasonable speed, and appear to be replaceable. Internally there are few moving parts, rendering this construct energy efficient, and resistant to wear over time. A rechargeable, ion-based power reserve ensures it continues to operate.

Appearance

The Alien Robot is similar in size and shape to the Cave Crawler but coloured in the same way as most Precursor Technology, being predominantly dark grey with green luminescence.

The Alien Robot has an octagonal body with a small head on the front and a larger, rectangular object on the back. It has four legs split into three segments each. Two green-tipped stalks used as repair tools protrude from its back. Decorative patterns are carved into most parts of the Alien Robot.

Behaviour

Upon sighting the player, the robots become aggressive, attacking by thrusting their two welding tools towards the player, which deal 3 damage per hit. They spark when they take damage and explode when destroyed. Similar to the Cave Crawler, the Alien Robots are able to climb vertical surfaces and hang upside-down.

Their Player detection area is fairly small, and they lose interest in the player very easily, making them appear almost passive sometimes.

Alien Robots are also capable of climbing the Prawn Suit; however, this will not damage the vehicle.

Despite the databank entry, they can't be picked into the inventory.
