Template:Infobox:Fauna Flora The Drooping Stingers is a life form belonging to the flora category, which spawns mainly in caves, where they are attached to the ceiling.
It can also be found hanging in the south west Kelp Forest blocking small cave openings.
It is highly recommended not to touch/get close to the stingers, as they can severely harm the player, capable of dealing near fatal injuries. They can also damage the Seamoth on contact.
Appearance
The Drooping Stingers resembles a real life cnidarian, with its entire body made of gelatinous, translucent substances, giving off a bright violet bioluminescent glow.
Its main body sports an umbrela-like base from which drops out a long, single, spiral-shaped tendril downwards.
Data Bank Entry
- Zero photosynthetic cells detected. Implies carnivorous adaptation to low-light environments.
- Follicles along the tentacles capable of detecting contact with foreign bodies, triggering an electromagnetic charge in the 600 watt range. Prey is likely paralyzed and consumed over many weeks.
Prey: Small fish
Assessment: Avoid
