The Purple Shroom Caves (current working title used by the developers) are a special type of caves that can be found in very low depths (below 180 meters).

The entrance to these caves usually is a hole in the seabed. To get to the cave, the player needs to navigate through multiple levels of stone layers. The caves are characterized by giant purple mushrooms, stalagmites and massive groups of stalactites hanging from the ceiling.

While the entrances are generally quite narrow and make it hard or impossible for the Cyclops to enter, the player should encounter no problems when using the Seamoth. The cave entrances quickly open up into huge caverns. However, despite the dimensions, the labyrinthean structures of the Purple Shroom Caves and the lack of light make it easy to get lost.

So far, it could not be determined whether these caves have multiple entrances, or not.

At the moment, the signal, a tool from experimental mode, can be used to show cave entrances in the vicinity.
