Food is a consumable item, crafted from materials using the Fabricator. Only available in Subnautica's Survival mode.
Nutrients, gained through food consumption, are required to maintain the players food and water (H2O) levels or risk dying from malnutrition (starvation or dehydration). While some food can be eaten raw, this action dehydrates the player and yields significantly less food than when it is cooked.
To consume the player can either:
- Add it to the Toolbar solot, switch to the food item and use it, or
- Left-click on the itme in the Inventory / PDA to consue it right away.
