Template:Infobox:Fauna Flora The Sand Shark is a large life form belonging to the fauna category.

It is generally hostile towards the player. The Sand Shark can be found in the Grassy Plateaus biome and the Dunes biome. They appear to be active at both day and night. When it's dark, the Sand Shark's mouth has a red bioluminescent glow to it.

Appearance

The Sand Shark has a segmented, blue, dotted back from head to tail with each segment having a tip tag on each joint. The body has sharp edges on the outside. On top of its head, it features a large fin reminiscent of a rhinoceros' horn. The Sand Shark has four yellow eyes, which are divided into sets of two on each side. It has a wide, red mouth in front with six rows of sharp teeth. The Sand Shark has one long pectoral fin on each side of the body. Underneath its golden-orange belly, it features six feet on each side, which are arranged in parallel rows. The tail is short and pointed in one joint.

Behavior

Sand Sharks commonly stay close to the sea floor. As their name implies, they like to burrow into the sand and wait for unsuspecting prey to swim by so they can attack. The Sand Shark attracts prey to its location by shuffling around in the sand creating a cloud around itself causing the player to go near it out of curiosity. Once the player is close enough to the Sand Shark, it will emerge from the sand and chase the player. However, if the player swims to the surface, the Sand Shark will break off the chase and return to the sea floor.

Data Bank Entry

A segmented exoskeleton makes this a slow but powerful predato. The rows of feet on the lifeform's underside are ill-designed for ambulation - instead they are used to disturb the surface of the sand so the lifeform can burrow into the ground, from where it may ambush its prey.

Prey: Herbivores up to twice its size

Assessment: Avoid suspicious sand clouds
