When the cursor is over a scannable object, a white circle appears in the middle of the screen. When scanning an object, if the cursor is moved off of it, or if a creature being scanned moves, the scan will be resumed from the previous precentage if resumed scanning the same entity in a timely manner. |

Template:Infobox item The Scanner is an in-development tool that is used to scan fragments, to be used as blueprints, and life forms. To acquire the blueprints of a particular object, the player needs to analyse the fragments for that object multiple times. The amount of times scanning is required varies based on the object. Each scan of one fragment takes approximately ten seconds.
In the future, the Scanner will be able to scan all fauna and most flora, among other things.[1]
