It can be planted in Plant Pots, Indoor Growbeds, and Exterior Growbeds to produce lantern trees that bear fruit. When eaten, they supply the player with ten points Food and three points of Water. In the Bioreactor, it produces a total of 210 energy over the course of 252 seconds. Due to the fact that Lantern Trees produce a lot of Lantern Fruits, the Lantern Fruit can be used as a versatile food source and a reliable source of fuel for the Bioreactor.

• The nutritional values of the Lantern Fruit have been subject to heavy re-adjustments. They were one of the best food resources due to their high output and fast growing time. This has been changed in later updates to balance the nutritional values between all the different food resources.
  • Due to their fast growing time and high nutritional value, they are commonly considered the best food source.
• The original name for Lantern Fruit used to be Hanging Fruit.
