- Despite many speculating that the game would be called Subnautica 3, more recent news has confirmed that the game is officially being titled Subnautica 2.
- Subnautica 2 is being made in Unreal Engine 5[3], as apposed to Unity.
- Subnautica 2 takes place after the events of Subnautica: Below Zero[1].
- Subnautica 2 takes place on a currently unknown planet[2].
- Subnautica 2 was first announced as "the next game in the Subnautica universe"[4].
