The crewmember replies that Khasar would do well to remember who's ship he was living on, referring to him as a Mongolian. My creators, the cherishers and sustainers of worlds, give me this day my daily pleasures, as I give to those who seek pleasures from me.
― Jochi Khasar, Lifepod 13 Emissary's Voicelog

Jochi Khasar was a Mongolian emissary on board the Aurora. His purpose was to assist with the search for Degasi survivors, after the Mongolian spacecraft disappeared almost a decade ago. Khasar escaped from the ship in Lifepod 13. The lifepod failed, and crashed in the Northwestern Mushroom Forest soon after launch. He was likely killed on impact.
Pre-Crash
The Mongolian Independent States held opposing cultural values to Alterra - notably in the prevalence of religion, and lack of synthetic food[1] - which brought Khasar into conflict with the Alterrans on the Aurora. He is depicted arguing with one crew member over their cultural differences. It's implied many Alterrans looked down on him, and Mongolian society overall, for his religious beliefs and smaller trans-gov.
Khasar also reported information on the Degasi crew members in the Degasi Crew Manifest logs.
Post-Crash
Khasar escapes to Lifepod 13 and prays for his survival. When the lifepod's support systems fail, it becomes clear he will die - he appears to accept his death, albeit somewhat spitefully, and instead asks for reincarnation,
It is likely Khasar died when his lifepod hit the water.

KHASAR: I find a tendency amongst Alterrans to think not only that you have it best, but that yours is the only way to have it at all. In the Mongolian States we have the freedom to work for ourselves. CREWMEMBER: Hey, most of us are contractors! Jo owns her own company! KHASAR: Whose ship are you living on right now? Yours, or Alterra's? CREWMEMBER: You'd do well to remember whose ship YOU'RE on, Mongolian. KHASAR: According to my religious beliefs, this ship belongs to us all. We're all part of the same system, the only difference between us is where we choose to draw lines. CREWMEMBER: Wise words for someone from a cowboy corporation fighting over rocks in the far reaches of space.</poem> |

[Passenger 07 'Emissary Jochi Khasar' has boarded the lifepod.] [Lifepod launch sequence initiated.] KHASAR: My creators, the cherishers and sustainers of worlds, give me this day my daily pleasures, as I give to those who seek pleasures from me. [Lifepod detached from Aurora OK.] [Entering planetary atmosphere.] [External temperature approaching critical levels.] KHASAR: Show me the path, in Life, Truth, and Love. For mine is the power, I am the one. On and off and on again. [Exterior hull damage sustained.] [Life support systems failed.] [Impact imminent.] KHASAR: Life is a game, which the universe plays with itself. I am done playing as this bundle of flesh. Return me.</poem> |

Trivia
- His name is almost certainly taken from the real-life Jo'chi Khasar, one of Chinggis Khan's full brothers. (Although Khasar wasn't his surname: it was a nickname/title given to him for his bravery in battle.)
- It may also be a reference to "Jochi Borjigin", an eldest son of Genghis Khan.
- Khasar's log suggests that he is religious and nationalistic - which is a relatively common stereotype of Mongolians.
- This is further supported by the argument between him and the Aurora crewmember, about the differences between Alterran and Mongolian life. The crewmember thought of Khasar's argument as religious nonsense.
