The Power Transmitter is a Power module that extends the range of a power source. The Power Transmitter is a Placeable Item that extends the range of a power source. It is constructed with the Habitat Builder and can be placed on the seabed. It can also be damaged and destroyed by striking it 3 times with the Survival Knife. The Power Transmitter can connect to nearby power sources, such as Solar Panels and Thermal Plants, and transfer the power via a power beam to a Seabase or another Power Transmitter. It can transfer power up to 100 meters between two transmitters, however you can use a line of transmitters to increase the transfer over a long distance.

The current model is a placeholder.
A glowing blue line will be displayed between the Power Transmitter and any objects that it is connected to.

Notes
* There is no limit to the number of connected Power Transmitters.
* Power Transmitters will still transmit power even if the area they are transmitting from is not rendered at the moment.
* Power Transmitters can only be used to connect external energy generators (Solar Panels and Thermal Plants) to a single Seabase. As such:
**It is not possible to have a single source transmit power to multiple targets (multiple Seabases can not share a single power source).
**Internal power sources (Bioreactors and Nuclear Reactors) cannot be connected, so one Seabase cannot act as a power source and power another Seabase.
*Power supply lines are created at a generator and can "hop" to either a power transmitter or a base. It will always choose the closest one - it is not necessarily the one that makes the most sense.
* More than one source can lead to a single target (but not the other way around).
* Maximum distance between two Power Transmitters is about 100 meters, connects even through ground.
* Maximum distance between Power Transmitters and energy generator/seabase is only about 25 meters, connects only if an unobstructed line of maximum 25 meters can be established.
* Power transmittor efficiency is 100%, there's no lost power.

Before it can be constructed, a single Power Transmitter fragment must be scanned with the Scanner. The fragments can be found in the Mushroom Forest or in Wrecks.

Notes

  • There is no limit to the number of connected Power Transmitters.
  • Power Transmitters will still transmit power even if the area they are transmitting from is not rendered at the moment.
  • Power Transmitters can only be used to connect external energy generators (Solar Panels and Thermal Plants) to a single Seabase. As such:
    • It is not possible to have a single source transmit power to multiple targets (multiple Seabases can not share a single power source).
    • Internal power sources (Bioreactors and Nuclear Reactors) cannot be connected, so one Seabase cannot act as a power source and power another Seabase.
  • Power supply lines are created at a generator and can "hop" to either a power transmitter or a base. It will always choose the closest one - it is not necessarily the one that makes the most sense.
  • More than one source can lead to a single target (but not the other way around).
  • Maximum distance between two Power Transmitters is about 100 meters, connects even through ground.
  • Maximum distance between Power Transmitters and energy generator/seabase is only about 25 meters, connects only if an unobstructed line of maximum 25 meters can be established.
  • Power transmittor efficiency is 100%, there's no lost power.

Before it can be constructed, a single Power Transmitter fragment must be scanned with the Scanner. The fragments can be found in the Mushroom Forest or in Wrecks.

Example

Two solar panels are supposed to power the base "Base A". In this image the "good" case is illustrated. It was taken right after loading a save and it shows Base A powered by the two solar panels.

Powerlines04.jpg

Note that the distance A in the "good" case is shorter than the distance B. This is important as when reconstructing the direction of the powerline needs to take a "left" turn from the solar panel in the middle. Remembering the rules how powerlines form this can only be achieved by making distance A shorter than distance B.

Powerlines05.jpg

This image shows the "bad" case where the powerline from the central solar panel takes the "wrong" turn and turned right because distance B is shorter than distance A. In this direction the powerline can only reach the other solar panel. In this setup the powerline can find a valid target from where the two powerlines meet and create a connection - Base B - so it connects to it.
